Welcome! Thank you for choosing to enroll with us! You are receiving this newsletter because you finished registration! We also saved a tree by emailing it instead of sending you home with clutter. You may request a hard copy before classes begin. WE ARE SO EXCITED TO START OUR 2021-2022 DANCE SEASON! Classes begin Monday, July 5th. We know this is a lot of information, but please read to the end to answer any questions.

THEME: Our theme this year for the 2022 recital is being continued with the all things go theme like we did last season! Having no specific theme really allows for all of our classes to shine within their styles without limitations. Wait until you see all the cute apparel and the fun we will have with this! We will also have a Halloween themed mini showcase in October, like we did prior to COVID, to display the hard work from our Summer classes! After that, we will have our annual mini Christmas performance. Please stay tuned and follow us online on Instagram or Facebook @onpointedanceandco as we continue to release more information closer to these dates or visit our website https://onpointedanceandco.wixsite.com/onpointedanceco for more user friendly access to important information.

NEW TEACHERS/STUDENTS: We want to welcome all of our new teachers and students to the studio! Feel free to look at the website and read all about the teachers! We also welcome back any former students. So many things wouldn’t be possible without you and parent commitment! For this, we will always thank you.

NEWSLETTERS: Will be emailed out accordingly. These can also be found online with other studio info if you feel something has been missed. Please take the time to read through these as important information will be in them.

SIGN UP A FRIEND: Sign a friend up for dance or yoga and get the following month discounted! Have them add it to their “notes” when they register or bring them in and tell us!

WAIVER: Please see the waivers that you signed at registration and inform us if there are any changes to the photo releases down the road or special circumstances you would like us to revisit and consider. This also includes a virtual COVID release form on our website found under the “forms” page.

ONLINE REGISTRATION: ALL dancers, new and old, need to fill out new registration forms yearly.  You can do this on our website listed above. A $5.00 registration fee needs to be included yearly.  All registration is available online for a $3.00 card processing fee if processed through Square. You may also pay any enrollment fees and monthly dues through ZELLE, Venmo, and PayPal for FREE without any card processing fees to onpointedanceandco@gmail.com. Once that is paid, please print the forms we attach to your email and bring them in before classes begin or fill them out in person that day. Swift and easy!

TUITION: Please pay tuition before the 1st of each month. A $5 late fee will apply by the 15th of each month, and $10 by the end of the month. Tuition must be paid in full from month to month in order to attend classes. You can pay with cash, check, or a card ($3.00 card processing fee will apply if paid through Square). All payments made online through ZELLE, Venmo, and PayPal are free of processing fees. Once payments are run, there are no refunds. Returned checks will have a $35.00 return fee. All bounced checks fees go straight to the bank.  We do not control these unfortunately and have no choice in this matter.

There is no annual contact and you are released from continuing the next month or moving to a different class if you so choose. Please be considerate that the goal of each class and instructor is to work towards a showcase, performance, and recital and lack of attendance is disruptive. Attendance is key to well run classes and performances and students may be removed if they miss too many classes closer to performance time or do not show up to rehearsals. Dress rehearsals are not optional. *Elite classes are an exception to this rule. Students in any competitive classes must keep consistent attendance and may be removed from those classes at any time if deemed necessary for the rest of their team.

Tuition is based on a full dance season per month and will not be pro-rated for missed classes. Months with missing classes and months with extra classes will all even out with dress rehearsals and extra practice. The instructor is responsible for making up any cancelled classes. Holidays are not included. There is no discount for missed classes, no refunds will be given for missed classes and tuition will not be pro-rated for missed classes. Please read this line again.

FACEBOOK/INSTAGRAM:

• Please join us on social media! Keep up to date on events and studio info. (@onpointedanceandco) We occasionally offer contests with social media and special promotions. You won’t want to miss the awesome prizes and MORE!

E-MAIL:

• Correspondence will be through e-mail, text, newsletters, reminders, etc.  Please check your e-mails often as we send reminders, specific class info, and ALL studio updates! If you are not getting e-mails, talk to Nikki. Newsletters will also be online if you don't receive yours.

CONTACT:

• You are more than welcome to call the studio and leave a message if you have questions.  540-717-0852 We check the messages once a day. If you would like a quicker response, please e-mail us at onpointedanceandco@gmail.com. You can also message us directly on the website or social media messages. Please don’t use Instagram for important inquires. We will check our e-mail many times a day.  Please contact your teachers directly regarding class related questions that they can answer and might know more about before contacting the studio owner. Please don't try to talk with teachers while they are in the middle of instructing. Meet with them before or after class.

PARENT ATTENDANCE/VIEWING: We are a drop off only studio unless the instructor has requested otherwise. There will be NO exceptions this season! Parents not yet ready to participate in drop off only classes may wait in the parking lot until class is over or consider enrolling at a later date when they feel their child is old enough to participate on their own. There simply isn’t enough room to hang around and watch classes. We have also found that parent attendance during youth classes, especially Creative Movement, causes more disruption and doesn’t allow the instructor, child, or other students to be productive. You will see what they have been working on at each showcase and recital and it will be more rewarding. We promise! If you have further questions on class practices, please contact Nikki directly.

CHECK IN SYSTEM: *We are not currently using the check in system this season, same as last season, since COVID. We will let you know as soon as we return back to that method! We miss it very much though! Information on how to do so once we do are as follows-

Always check in at the start of class before you enter and do not forget to check back out before you leave each day. Children under the age of 10 must have parents check in for them at the kiosk with a security photo taken of the PARENT only at check in and check out. Only ONE parent will be designated as pick up and drop off in the system with an avatar. If two parents will be doing this, please create 2 accounts for the students under “mom” and “dad”. The minor form must be filled out before classes begin to include 2 additional adults that have permission to pick up or drop off the child. Please call ahead of time if you will not be the one picking up or dropping off your minor under 10. If someone comes to drop off and pick up your child that isn’t on your consent form, we will call you to let you know and ask for your code word to ensure their safety. You will always check in under “Parents” at the kiosk. All other authorized adults must check in and check out as “Guardian of Minor” at the kiosk. Students over the age of 10 may check themselves in and out at the kiosk under “Dancers” as a one tap. Yoga students over the age of 10 must check in under “Yoga” as a one tap. Guests of students must check in under “Guests” with a couple quick survey questions. And “drop ins” for any class must always be checked in as “Drop In”. Instructors have their own methods for checking in and out of the system. If you have questions about the kiosk, please just ask the instructor for help.

Check In Kiosk:

Dancers- over the age of 10 check in and out on their own with a one tap.

Yoga- over the age of 10 check in and out on their own with a one tap.

Parents- dance and yoga students under the age of 10 must be checked in by the designated adult with a safety photo.

Guardian of Minor- dance and yoga students under the age of 10 being picked up and dropped off by an authorized adult other than the designated parent must be checked in here with a couple survey questions.

Guest- guests of students (survey)

Drop in- any class drop ins not paying monthly tuition for that class (survey)

Instructors- must check in and out with a signature before and after class.

CONDUCT: We are a zero tolerance studio. We will strive to be courteous and respectful of each other and other surrounding studios at all times. You and your student are an extension of our studio and we ask that everyone remain professional and refrain from future confrontation that may ever reflect badly on us. Our staff will always do the same in return. *The Elite classes will be held to an even higher standard and students and parents will be responsible for signing individual Codes of Conduct in order to participate in any competitive classes.

It isn’t difficult to be kind. :)

CLASS ATTIRE

• Please read over this and make sure you have appropriate dance wear. There will be no exception this season. If you have been in classes for almost a month, you need to be prepared moving forward with all appropriate apparel in your bags or rented locker! Dancers will be given the first two weeks of attendance to get their class dance attire together. This includes shoes. Hair must always be pulled back unless instructed by the teacher for specialty classes at specific times. Take pride in your appearance. Please help our dancers look professional and have class unity with these uniforms;

  • Ballet- Pink ballet shoes, any color leo, and pink, nude, or black tights are required. Ballet 2 and above must purchase split sole Bloch Performa pink or cocoa ballet shoes for regular seasons and black for the Halloween showcase. Do not throw away worn shoes, as they are the ones they should practice in regularly. Dancers can wear dance shorts and ballet skirts over their tights and Leos.

  • Pointe (and Int.-Adv. Ballet): Ballet shrugs and leg warmers along with “space boots” are encouraged during colder weather. “Trash” pants and yoga pants are acceptable when it’s cool unless the instructor has asked for them to be removed. Links will be provided for ballet matching ballet wrap skirts at the start of the season. Absolutely NO denim colored leggings as a yoga pants option. Hair in a bun. You may not size yourself or order pointe shoes online without instructor approval.

  • Jazz- Dancers need dance pants or bikers. Leotard, tank top, or other form fitting tank tops can be worn. Long sleeves are allowed during colder weather. Dancers need to wear jazz shoes in black and nude. There are no exceptions, students must own both colors during the season in order to be permitted to perform. Hair pulled back.

  • Hip Hop/Kick/Pom/Creative Movement/Lyrical/Adult Dance– Please check with your instructor at the start of the season for class requirements. Lyrical/Contemporary/Modern will require foot undies or ballet shoes. Hip Hop/Kick Pom will require black split sole street tennis/Jazz shoes. Links will be provided. These classes, along with contemporary classes will also require dance knee pads. Instructors might require more specific foot attire down the road. We are more lenient with clothing as long as it is appropriate and form fitting. Nothing obstructive. No “pajamas”. Hair must stay up.

  • Tumbling- no baggy clothes. Bare feet! Hair pulled back.

FOOD/DRINK

• We do allow food and drink in the studio, however, students MUST pick up after themselves and not make a mess or they will no longer be allowed to continue to do so. Always throw away your trash and take any additional food or drink back home with you. Locker keepers have separate rules to avoid damage to the lockers and belongings inside, as stated in their locker agreements.

FLOORS

• Please do not wear street shoes on the dance floor.  Only dancers on the dance floor. Parents entering need to stay to the side and slip your shoes off if you enter the pointe floor or main dance space. There are a number of reasons why we require this including health, dirt, weather elements, wear and tear, etc.

TIME

• Please make sure your dancers are to class on time and ready to dance! Instructors may ask dancers later than 15 minutes to sit and watch class as they have missed an important warm-up and it is disruptive to the class. Please also make sure you pick your dancers up on time! This is very important. Instructors need to get to other commitments and their own children so please be respectful. Parents may be charged if a teacher waits more than 10 minutes with a student after class.

WAIT LIST

• For full classes, we will have waiting lists available if you want to put your name on it. If you drop out of a class, please let your teacher or Nikki know so we can accommodate other dancers and drop you from the online system. It is your responsibility to let us know if you want to drop a class. If you miss more than 2 weeks without a phone call, we will give your spot away. Please call or email the studio if you will be missing class.

PRIVATE LESSONS

• Those that are interested in private lessons can talk to Nikki or their teacher about scheduling. These are $25.00 per hour for your teacher and a $15 studio rental fee. All private lessons must be ran past Nikki first and entered into the check in system accordingly.

HYGIENE

• Just a reminder as dancers are working hard in large groups, we ask that you make sure you wear deodorant, and wash your dance clothes often.

RULES: There are ABSOLUTELY NO cell phones allowed during class time! This has been a constant problem over the years and will not be tolerated. Instructors will collect them and let the student know if there is an emergency. Please contact the instructor first in the event of an emergency. Numbers need to be shared with each other before classes begin and stored in phones for this purpose especially. Do not sit or climb on the stage! Do not touch any of the displays for safety reasons and respect. Everything is very fragile! Always respect the displays and stay on the opposite side of the curtains at all times. Parents are responsible for small children in the studio unless they have been dropped off for class with an instructor. Please be courteous. No bullying. No profanity. No crude behavior. No gum.

FYI: Beyond just dance steps, we want to help your dancer mature into more independent and confident people. While we understand your curiosity about how your child is doing, it’s better for their growth and sense of autonomy when they can be completely focus on dancing. It is vitally important that students learn how to regulate themselves and to not have to rely on parents to motivate or guide them.

PERFORMANCES

  • Recital stage fees: will need to be paid before any performances but should be minimal. This covers the rental of the facility, the administration and janitorial fees, stage crew, lighting and sound crew, printed programs, insurance coverage and more. This could change down the road but you will be made aware in advance.

  • Entrance fees: Each dancer will be given 2 FREE tickets to the show for parents to come watch. All additional tickets will be $10 to purchase in advance and $15 at the door.

COSTUMES

  • Nikki and the rest of the instructors work very hard to keep costume fees low. There will be no hidden or convenience fees when it comes to ordering. Transparency is key and we will not surprise you with any unwanted costs. We pride ourselves in making sure our dancers look and dance age appropriately.  Parents are welcome to come and see costumes before they are ordered. We also invite you to listen to the music we use and request to know more about the choreography we teach if there are any concerns.

  • Costumes will be purchased towards the start of each season instead of the end from now on.

ELITE/JR. ELITE:

These classes will sign a separate studio contract and code of conduct laying out all 2022 guidelines. These classes are by audition only. Students may be removed at any time for behavior, attendance, etc. Elite classes are an additional studio privilege and big commitment to all involved and participation in our annual recital is non-negotiable. Unfortunately, we will not be accepting ANY students that are or will be enrolled in other extra curricular sports in school or otherwise due to time and risk of injuries. This is non-negotiable. Please refer to your Elite/Jr. Elite contracts for more information.

FESTIVALS/PARADES/SPECIAL EVENTS

 • Please keep up to date on any newsletters and social media information regarding these planned events as they happen. Participation is encouraged but never required.

PLEASE PUT YOUR NAME ON EVERYTHING! Then we can get it back to you when they are left!

LOST AND FOUND

• Please check this often as it is so hard to replace expensive shoes and clothing. It will be emptied, donated, or thrown away by the end of each month. Please send your children or yourself with a dance bag to carry items and keep articles together. They are necessary. Please use the cubbies or hooks in the front and back to put your bags, jackets, and shoes away as we have limited lobby space. Lockers are available to rent in June for the remainder of the year.

LOCKERS

This season we will offer students the option to rent a locker on their own, or share one with another student, for the year. $50 for the year per dancer of $25 if shared. There will be a limited amount of lockers available and keys and locks will be included. This is a first come first serve basis in June, based on availability, and the student must be registered for at least 2 classes per week. They will be allowed to decorate the inside of their locker with magnetic decor only, no stickers allowed. Lockers are rented from July-next May. Please check your locker contract for more details. Elite students are strongly encouraged to rent a locker!

STUDIO HOLIDAYS

• We follow the School District calendar.

*Always check our newsletters and calendars for closing days.

OFFICE HOURS: The studio is always locked outside of class times unless an instructor or studio owner is present.

We know that this was a lot of info, but hopefully we answered all your questions. If not, please feel free to call, come by, or email us! We will also keep our website updated. Thank you for choosing us and trusting us and we appreciate you! We look forward to an awesome year!
